Ferdinand was reviewed in the March 26, 1997 issue of Flagpole, by Jim Winders. They were opening for Vic Chesnutt at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, GA. The entire article can be found here: (eek, where did that URL go??). Here is the relevant part :

Ferdinand, the opening duo of Kelly Hogan and Leigh Jeffries, were more of a work in progress. The songs, which still seemed rather fragmentary, were interesting in spots, and Jeffries supplied charmingly off-center guitar excursions. Of the two singers, Hogan -- needless to say -- is the more accomplished. I for one had a hard time accepting her diminished role in her new project. She deserves inclusion in a group that will showcase her considerable vocal prowess as much as possible.
